Lionel Messi is facing ban for insulting an Assistant Referee’s mother in a World Cup qualifying game.
FIFA has issued a four-match ban to Lionel Messi after confirming that the he verbally abused a match official in a World Cup qualifying game.
He was accused of saying “f*** off, your mother’s a c***” to a match official.
Messi, who scored the only goal in the qualifier, was angered when he was flagged for a foul, waving and shouting at the assistant in response.
The 29-year-old was also fined £8,100. He will miss his country’s next four competitive fixtures.
