The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that it will soon invite former President Goodluck Jonathan over the controversial arms deal scam, Naij reports.
The acting chairman of the anti-graft agency Ibrahim Magu made the revelation at the office of the BBC Hausa service in London.
Several officials who served during the administration of Jonathan have been under the radar of the EFCC while some have been arrested and are facing charges.
The most notable being the distribution of funds through the office of the national security adviser to members of the Peoples Democratic Party for campaign.
042express had last month reported that the former president may be arrested before May29 according to an EFCC source.
The source hinged the revelation on the level of investigations carried out on Jonathan-led administration by officials of the commission, noting that he may be arrested before President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration clocks its first year in office.
According to the source, the arrest of Azibaola Robert, the managing director of Kakatar engineering and construction company two weeks ago was a clear indication that “we are inching close to making former president Jonathan our guest,” describing Robert as the closest kinsman of the former president.
